MEMBERSHIPS :  

BFC has two types of membership: BEGINNER MEMBERSHIP and FULL MEMBERSHIP (Basic membership fee PLUS intermediate level classes and private lessons.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Membership required. Annual commitment required for Private Lessons.

Date and time certain scheduled one month in advance. Coach not guaranteed, substitution without notice may be possible. BFC Membership required. NO MAKEUPS (unless cancellation by BFC)

Floor fees are $20/night.

Beginner fees include Membership+1 60 min. class; All other Intermediate listed fees are added to the monthly membership fee of $60/month.

The one hour Intermediate classes are $70;(+$60 membership fee); the 90 minute Intermediate and By Invitation 2 hour competitive classes require a commitment to two classes per week.

Full Members are eligible for classes and private lessons, open bouting and priority registration for classes, lessons, clinics and services such as weapon repair. 

Annual Membership is available on a monthly or annual basis.  The annual term is rolling and members who join for the full year (paid in one installment) receive approximately two months free.

*  Members may be invited to participate in BFC’s elite competition classes and teams. 

For fencers under eighteen (18) years of age group classes are required and open bouting is permitted ONLY for minors who have achieved USFA “C” and above rating and who provide parental release and express approval of BFC staff. Exceptions to the rating requirement may be made on a case-by-case basis.

Only fencers who have completed the Beginner classes, or have equivalent fencing experience, may apply for FULL Basic Membership.  Fencers with basic membership must have their own practice equipment (mask, jacket, weapon, glove, knickers, plastron). Visiting guests and full-time undergraduate students who attend open bouting are not required to become BFC members. FLOOR FEES are $20/session.

Membership allows fencers to represent BFC at competition tournaments and access to experienced competition strip coaches.

Membership benefits include:

    • armory clinic
    • referee clinic
    • rules study sessions
    • sports psychology clinics
    • youth/college/local/national/regional fencing

Basic Individual Membership.....$60/month* or $600/year (2 months free)
* Fees are due on the first of each month for the following month
New Members pay first month (prorated) and the second month at initial registration:  Subsequent months are at one-month rate, and are due the first of each month for the following month.
Classes [60 minute, 90 minute and 2 hour competitive by-invitation] and Private Lesson fees are in addition to Basic Membership fees.

Note:All Memberships are paid thirty days in advance of each month, and members may join mid-month with the fee prorated for the first of the month.  Payment may be by check, cash or on-site or on-line credit card payment. Auto-pay with a credit card or automatic account debit is also available beginning September 1, 2012. Cancellation requirements and refund/credit limitations apply. New members are assessed a registration fee and required to pay for the first two months, followed by their continuing monthly fee.

USA Fencing membership (minimum non-competitive level) is required for all individual members of Baltimore Fencing Center. 

 

Beginner Membership

Beginner fencers (who are graduates of BFC Introductory Learn To Fence class or with limited prior experience) participate in one (1) group class per week.

The Beginner Membership includes membership and class for a single fee of $115/month.  Private lessons are available for Beginner Memberships (20 minutes at an additional cost of $150/month.)

  • Classes are on a rolling schedule and are scheduled by age (child, youth and adult) as ON-GOING classes. 
  • Beginner classes stress fencing foundations, with emphasis on proper form, technique, etiquette and sportsmanship.  Child and Youth classes also stress character development, focus, concentration and self-confidence.
  • NO Open Bouting privileges until Intermediate (full BFC membership)
  • Participants receive written evaluations periodically, and may advance to Intermediate Level classes at any time with approval of the Coach.

Beginner Membership 

(No Open Bouting & Includes mandatory USFA non-competitive membership fee).................................$115/month*.

A one-time registration fee of $60 is charged at initial registration.  The registration fee may be waived in certain instances (such as registration before end of Learn to Fence session).
A re-registration fee of $60 may be charged if a membership expires.
